The double front ferry. Which is the front and which is the back. Is that the right talk?
The Gironde estuary. Royan in the distance
Grainger’s wine blog is gfwineblog.co.uk
Grainger’s wine blog. The one and only wine blog for all you winos out there.
When you travel down from the north to the Medoc region there are two alternatives. Its either around Bordeaux or across the Gironde estuary. The best is to do both! Why not do the right bank first around St Emilion, Pomerol, Fronsac, Libourne . There’s loads to see and do apart from the wine. Then travel into Bordeaux and experience the city. Now you can travel up the Medoc. Go along the D2 road that passes through all the wine centres rather than the D1 which basically bypasses everything. So you have Margaux, Paillac, St Estephe etc up to the Medoc at the top. So the best way of coming back is over the mouth of the Gironde from Le Verdon sur Mer to Royan on the double front ferry. It does not turn around like the Cross channel ferries. Half an hour and you are across. Brilliant.
Wine blog ing is fun with Grainger’s wine regularly to catch up on the latest with the wine scene or something quite different. You never know what might appear.
