Tax on Wine

The picturesque courtyard at Enchantoir

The beautiful salle a manger at Manoir de Gourin - the venue for many of our wine tasting dinners.

I was totting up the tax on an order for wine today and the amount of tax on our order was just mindblowing. The actual percentage of tax on the order including the duty and VAT was 50% of the total invoice amount.  You even have to pay VAT on the duty. Double taxation. It s ridiculous. Everything you do now is a tax. Park in the hostpital its tax. Park in the street its tax. I dread to think how much we actually pay out of our pockets in tax. We should add it up. People are certainly getting so annoyed at the state making the ordinary tax payer take the brunt of the tax burden whilst these high earners in central government, local council, banking, and these companies that hardly contibute by using offshore accounts etc etc.

We try to sell our wine as competitively as possible to our customers and all we get is ahammering from the government in tax. We will continue to try to help our customers by giving them as good a deal as possible. Mark my words it will end in tears. More and more people will start to rebel against such unfair odds.

In the meantime why not try a few bottles of our wine to ease the pain.  See ua at gfwine.co.uk. Cheers
