The Charter of the independent vigneron

I picked up a leaflet at the salon des Vins in Angers a couple of weeks ago and thought I’d share their rather charming philosophy with you.

This winemaker:

Respects his soil

Cultivates his vine

Harvests his grapes

Works and produces his own wine

Bottles his production in his cellar

Commercializes his wine

Betters himself in the respect of tradition

And welcomes, advises about wine tasting and takes pleasure to present the fruits of his work and cultivation.

Of course – nothing is lost in translation! K

Wine Tasting Event at Berkhamsted

We are toasting the success of our first wine tasting event on Sunday at Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Many thanks to Helen and Norman for organising and hosting the two sessions so wonderfully. Thanks also to those who came to taste and enjoy the wines of Pierre and Brigitte of Domaine de L’Enchantoir.

The Saumur Blanc 2009, a crisp dry white wine, proved to be the best seller, followed closely by Saumur Puy Notre Dame 2009 (Gold medal award), a smooth medium red wine, and Cabernet D’Anjou, a fruity medium rosé wine.

All were looking forward to warmer weather and sitting outside with a chilled glass or two!
